Announcing Project Neighborly!

CDA 2030, along with The Idaho Community Foundation, and other community partners are proud to launch an effort to foster civility and neighborliness in local communities throughout North Idaho. We want to work with the community to inspire answers to “How can we be better North Idaho neighbors? How can we spark ideas to help start conversations among people who otherwise might not have interacted?”

Project Neighborly will ignite efforts by awarding grants up to $5,000 to support inspiring, actionable, relevant projects and activities that develop a sense of community and promote neighborliness in Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai and Shoshone counties. Deadline to apply is April 8.

Eligible recipients include: 501(c)(3) organizations, Native American tribal agencies, civic groups (Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.), religious institutions, public institutions (including public schools and local governments), informal grassroots groups (with a fiscal sponsor) and others.

Project Neighborly is led by the Idaho Community Foundation with support from funding partners Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, Idaho Central Credit Union and Innovia Foundation.

Project Neighborly’s community partners in North Idaho are CDA 2030, Civic Engagement Alliance, Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber, and United Way of North Idaho.

Grants will be announced by May 9.

JJ O'Dell

Welcom JJ!

CDA 2030 has selected JJ O’Dell as its new Executive Director. “The hiring process for CDA 2030’s Executive Director was not an easy one. We built it that way intentionally,” said Maren Maier, incoming Board Chair. “Candidates had to go through multiple levels of interviews, create content, and present to the Board their goals for the organization. We had some really great candidates, but JJ stood out with his experience and enthusiasm.”

“I am excited to bring all my experience and skills in non-profit management to my work at CDA 2030 to be a part of building the vision for greater Coeur d’Alene,” O’Dell said. “My wish is to continue to make this a great place to live and raise a family.”

“My interest in serving the community runs deep,” O’Dell said. Growing up surrounded by veteran family members inspired him to fill a gap in services by founding a veteran-focused non-profit in Boise. As Executive Director he spent over a decade supporting Veterans and their family members.

O’Dell graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising. The marketing skills he developed transitioned well into non-profit work. He enjoys using communication and creativity to build connections, increase awareness, and develop engagement within the community.

Maier stated “JJ has a vested interest in the future of this area and a deep desire to uphold the integrity and beauty of our community. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his previous non-profit and isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work. He possesses a kind, open-minded and excited energy that we can’t wait to share with all of our community partners.”
